not a deterrent unless you have flashing lightsthe thing I really dislike about the camera is that it is not a Deterrent against theft vandalism during the daytime as the floodlight does not turn on or say anything from the unit when motion is activated. unless the ring device owner is aware and is able to engage the person on their property, the ring device is not able to warn the intruder that they are being recorded . This is an extremely important flaw. I have seen many videos on the neighborhood app showing thefts and vandalism in action but the culprits being totally unaware that they are being recorded... so they go about with their misdeeds without a care. I have enabled my ring device to notify me of motion movement on my echo devices inside my home. unfortunately the same message cannot be played on my ring speaker...why not why am I not able to let the intruder know that they r being monitored without me taking action via my phone what if my phone is charging or battery out of juice, or I m distracted bathing the kids wouldn t it be nice if my ring device could either say, motion has been detected in the ____ area like it does on my alexa devices or say a personal recorded message like you are being recorded. automatically when motion is detected. I want this ring device to be a deterrent not just an expensive device that records the misdeeds so that I can relive the crime or criminal via video recording.
