This thermometer measures temperature with the Infrared sensor from -40 to 800 Degrees C -40 to 1472 Degrees F with an accuracy of or – 1 degree C or – 2 Degrees F . it measures temperature with the included Type K bead thermocouple from -40 to 260 Degrees C -40 to 500 Degrees F , and it is Compatible with standard Type K thermocouple probes sold separately . it has a 50 1 Infrared distance-to-spot ratio with laser sighting for pinpointing the measurement area. The thermometer can store up to 99 points of data for analysis and monitoring on a computer. Its display shows the current temperature, the minimum, the maximum, the difference between the two temperatures, and the average temperatures when measured with the Infrared sensor, and it retains the last Infrared measurement for 20 Seconds after it has been taken. It has three emissivity settings that compensate for heat emitted from the surface of shiny objects to increase the accuracy of the measurement. This is a great device with great features. I first bought the 62 Max version but I realized I didn t have anything to take thermocouple contact measurements with. Instead of buying a device specifically to take contact measurements, I decided to upgrade to the 568. The 561 seems like a great unit too and is about 200 cheaper but the accuracy on the thermocouple is - 4 degrees F. With the 568 the thermocouple accuracy is - 2 degrees. The emissivity setting on the 561 only has a low 30 , medium 70 , and high 95 setting. The 568 has emissivity settings from 10-100 in increments of 1. Additionally, the memory feature is very handy when measuring HVAC splits or when you want to periodically measure the same thing over time to track any changes. The menu system on this device is also very easy to use and makes a lot of sense. One thing I didn t like about the 62 Max is the menu is designed in a manner that doesn t make much sense. When scrolling through min max average differential, the 62 Max then takes you through the set up menu so you have to scroll through 7 additional setting screens to get back to the min max average differential screens.The 568 shows min and max or average and differential at the same time. This unit is a little pricy but that is what you get with Fluke if you want their best products. The 566 is around 55 less than the 568 with similar specs but fewer features and with a 30 1 spot ratio instead of the 50 1 spot ratio of the 568 and the 561 has a 12 1 spot ratio. The 566 would have probably been all I need but for the price difference of only 55 I decided to go with the 568. In my limited experience with these devices, a 12 1 spot ratio should be sufficient for most uses, however a 30 1 or 50 1 spot ratio makes it that much more convenient because you can be further away and get a more accurate result. I m new to Fluke products but one thing you want with any measuring device is accuracy and I have tested my Fluke 376 FC clamp meter and now the Fluke 568 IR thermometer and both appear to be very accurate so I have confidence that I m getting accurate results and Fluke seems to be living up to their reputation for accuracy.
